Neil Hannon heeft als uitzonderlijk auteur en muzikant bewezen dat hij zijn plaats tussen de grote namen in de Britse muziekscene verdient. Zes jaar na zijn laatste album staat hij terug aan het roer van The Divine Comedy. Het langverwachte dertiende album, 'Rainy Sunday Afternoon’, verschijnt op 19 september. De Britse band brengt het live in het Koninklijk Circus op dinsdag 17 maart 2026.

 

Neil Hannon is vooral bekend als songwriter en drijvende kracht achter The Divine Comedy. Na twaalf albums hebben zijn kenmerkende orkestrale pop, slimme teksten en legendarische liveshows hem een vaste plek bezorgd in de harten van muziekliefhebbers. Sinds het laatste studioalbum, 'Office Politics' uit 2019, is er veel gebeurd. De hele back catalogue van de band werd geremasterd en opnieuw uitgebracht in 2020, 'Charmed Life – The best of The Divine Comedy', bereikte in 2022 de top 5 van de UK-album chart, en recent componeerde hij de originele nummers voor de internationale kaskraker 'Wonka'. In september verschijnt het nieuwe album, 'Rainy Sunday Afternoon', dat werd opgenomen in Abbey Road Studios. Neil schreef, arrangeerde en produceerde het album volledig zelf. Het verkent op voortreffelijke wijze zijn gebruikelijke scala aan emoties: verdriet, humor, woede en alles daartussenin. De eerste single, “Achilles”, biedt alvast een voorproefje van wat zal komen. Om de release van 'Rainy Sunday Afternoon' te vieren, komt The Divine Comedy op 17 maart 2026 naar het Koninklijk Circus in Brussel voor een must-see show!
