Glen Hansard

De Ierse muzikant Glen Hansard is een manusje-van-alles. Hij maakt muziek voor zijn soloproject, vormt samen met Markéta Irglová het folkduo The Swell Season, met wie hij ook de soundtrack voor de Oscarwinnende film ‘Once’ (waar hij zelf als straatmuzikant meespeelt) schreef, en rockt ook nog altijd samen met de legendarische band The Frames.

De laatste jaren werkte hij vooral aan de uitbouw van zijn solocarrière, waarbij hij bijna onafgebroken de wereld rondtourde.

Zijn laatste worp ‘This Wild Willing’ (2019) schreef hij op uitnodiging in Parijs, om even uit te blazen van het eeuwige onderweg zijn. Het was een ambitieuze plaat met grote invloed van de bevriende Iranese broers Khoshravesh, maar ook insteken van psychedelische rock en folk.

Hansard moest een tijdje geleden zijn tournee wegens familiale redenen annuleren, maar kwam in het najaar terug met de single ‘Take Heart’, een eerbetoon aan de moed van Oekraïne.

Glen Hansard staat nog altijd garant voor nummers die recht uit het hart komen, omwikkeld met zijn karakteristieke stem die al decennia troost biedt.

Hij speelt op vrijdag 3 november in het Koninklijk Circus. De ticketverkoop start op vrijdag 26 mei om 11u.
