About

David Hockney.
The Song of the Earth.

The exhibition The Song of the Earth presents an exceptional set of paintings by the celebrated British artist David Hockney, several on a monumental scale, alongside compositions produced on an iPad.

These creations dialogue with works by Vincent van Gogh, Edvard Munch, Constantin Meunier and a selection of Nordic symbolist painters from the turn of the twentieth century, including Albert Edelfelt from Finland and Konrad Mägi from Estonia.

Divided into six sections and punctuated with audio and visual elements, the exhibition blends painting, music and poetry, echoing the symphonic song cycle by Gustav Mahler, The Song of the Earth. This work, composed between 1907 and 1908, pays tribute to the fragile beauty and life force of nature.

Here it becomes the guiding thread of the exhibition: a sensitive inspiration that fl ows through the works, links the artists and envelops the visitor in an experience that is simultaneously sensory, poetic and contemplative.
