About

Sabrina Carpenter

Though you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone in 2024 who has not heard of pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter, the Pennsylvania-born star’s first breakout moment occurred way back in 2013.

The US pop star first gained notoriety as Maya Hart in Disney Channel’s Girl Meets World, for which she also recorded the theme song with co-star Rowan Blanchard. Around the same time, Carpenter also signed a deal with Disney label Hollywood Records.

She launched her music career in 2014 with the release of single ‘Can’t Blame A Girl For Trying’, and over the next several years would go on to release four studio albums with Hollywood Records and tour extensively. Carpenter’s rebirth as an artist began with her switch to Island Records in 2021, with whom she released single ‘Skin’ in January of that year. The song was her biggest hit up until that point and saw Carpenter perform on The Late Late Show with James Corden. Her next single ‘Skinny Dipping’, released in September of that year, would go on to be announced as the lead single for her fifth studio album. Emails I Can’t Send, which arrived in July 2022, was a defining moment for Carpenter, marking her most successful album to date and cementing her pop star status.

The album spawned several successful singles, including the certified-platinum ‘Nonsense’ and Top 40 hit ‘Feather’. In June 2023, Carpenter was announced as an opener for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, supporting the singer on her South American, Australian and Singaporean legs.

In November of that year, Carpenter released Fruitcake, a Christmas-themed EP including a previously released festive reworking of her hit single ‘Nonsense’. April 2024 saw the release of ‘Espresso’, the lead single for Carpenter’s sixth studio album, followed two months later by a second single, ‘Please Please Please’. Both songs took the world by storm, topped the Billboard Global 200, with ‘Please Please Please’ becoming Carpenter’s first No.1 hit in the US. The two singles also saw Carpenter become the first female artist to hold the No.1 and No.2 positions in the UK Singles Chart for three weeks in a row. Carpenter announced that her sixth album, Short ‘n Sweet, would be released in August 2024.
