Neal Morse’s career path is full of unexpected twists and turns, sudden changes and pleasant surprises—much like the epic progressive rock compositions for which he has become known. In 2014 Neal (ex-Spock's Beard) was remarkably prolific, marking milestones both in the studio and on the road with the multiple bands he’s a part of.
In January, the progressive rock “supergroup” Transatlantic featuring Neal, Mike Portnoy (The Winery Dogs, formerly Dream Theater), Roine Stolt (The Flower Kings) and Pete Trewavas (Marillion) released their critically acclaimed fourth studio recording. “Kaleidoscope” was wildly embraced by the band’s rabid fan base, with Prog! magazine heralding it “Album of the Year” in Orange Amplification’s 2014 Progressive Music Awards. Morse, Stolt and Trewavas performed at the awards ceremony and graciously accepted the award in the company of fellow prog luminaries Peter Gabriel, Rick Wakeman and Fish.
Riding on the tremendous success of their breakthrough album, The Grand Experiment, The Neal Morse Band set out on a tremendously successful world tour in the spring of 2015. Neal Morse and Mike Portnoy have teamed up with Randy George, Eric Gillette, and Bill Hubauer to create one of the greatest progressive rock bands of all time. Full stop. The new live document Alive Again, just released in August 2016, shows them at the top of their form performing for a rousing audience in Holland March 6, 2015.
A brand new album is due for release in November 2016, then the band will embark for a new tour that will see them across Europe in Spring 2017.
To the delight of his passionate and growing fan base, there seems to be no end in sight for the magical music and masterful musicianship that flows from the mind and hands of Neal Morse.
